An oppa means ‘older brother.’ This Korean term also refers to any male that a girl feels close to, such as a brother, friend, or boyfriend.
So how does one become a true Oppa?
Start with a haircut and clean shave.
Learn ways to be close to a woman— hand on the shoulder and carry an umbrella when it rains.
End with tying a woman’s shoelaces, tying her hair gently, or giving her a piggyback ride.
These suggestions are extreme. But, if you watch Kdramas such as Startup, you’ll notice that it’s all about acts of service. An Oppa treats someone with respect. He puts himself out there with his vulnerability.
It’s more than the looks, but being a true gentleman.
